On Tuesday, I headed off to the Divertimenti Cookery School in Kensington for a Christmas treat. I was going to be learning how to make some delicious Christmas food for my guests. It was #XmasBloggerDay with Burton McCall who were on hand to introduce us to some amazing brands.
Home Economist Jack Williams was at the helm preparing delicious mince pies and Yorkshire puddings. He made it seem so easy.
The mince pies were scrumptious with the pastry being slightly crumbly – like a cross between puff pastry and shortcrust. It also had a hint of orange zest. You get the idea, right? He demonstrated the use of the amazing Bamix blender and I can’t wait to get my hands on one and wow everyone with my cooking skills.
We were also shown some great Fissler products and I especially loved how easy and quick it was to cook in the pressure cooker. I was surprised to know that you can steam an egg in the pressure cooker without it exploding! (You know like if you put it in the microwave.)
The Yorkshire puddings were so delicious served with braised steak and freshly prepared mayonnaise.
I may never buy store mayonnaise ever again. It was so easy to do with the Bamix. It took about 10 seconds – as you can see in this video.
Jack also prepared some fish cakes with salmon and saffron mayonnaise.
I loved some of the products we were shown especially these ice cubes from Zoku – how cool are these emoji ones!
We were also treated to a Mango-Ginger Beer-Prosecco cocktail made using a cocktail shaker from Stanley –
It was a delightful morning and I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes as they seemed so easy and tasted amazing. I’m sure the family would love them. They would also be perfect for Christmas as well as other parties in the run up to the season.
We were treated to a goody bag that contained some awesome Aladdin products which included a water bottle that helps you chart just how much water you’re drinking. Just what I need.
I also won a prize to attend a cooking class so I can’t wait to book myself in. I wonder what class it will be!
