We love OREOS – who doesn’t? So when we were chosen to take part in a Oreo based family day out and write about it, we were thrilled. We were sent some lovely Oreo packets to enjoy during the day. These are special promotional packs and you can read more about them below –
With the weather as it is, we had to be careful of where we chose to go and after much deliberation, we decided to spend a day out at Hever Castle. We’ve been wanting to visit for some time and with Ethan learning about the Tudors and Anne Boleyn in particular, we thought it would be a great way to spend the day as a family.
Armed with a picnic lunch and OREOS of course, we headed off to Hever Castle. The weather was extremely kind to us and we had sunny skies all through the day.
We had some stunning views to take in on arrival and the children decided they wanted a hot chocolate treat to start off the day. I think it was just an excuse to tuck into an OREO but I thought it was a brilliant idea!
Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and it contains some interesting articles related to her like her prayer books and letters between her and Henry VIII. The Castle features different rooms recreated to depict Tudor times and the children were very interested in looking around and taking everything in.
There is also a yew maze but we decided not to go into it because we didn’t have appropriate footwear and some parts of it were deep in puddles. The Lake however was just stunning.
Hever Lake is gorgeous and we got some awesome photos that will help us relive the day as time goes on.
There’s so much to see as there’s a miniature house exhibition and the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry museum.
We also visited the gardens and spent quite a bit of time in the Italian garden.
The gardens are Arboreous and I can imagine what they look like in summer with the flowers in full bloom. Moreover, the weather was amazing and the blue skies made it ever so scenic.
We had a lovely family day out and we would love to share our wonder filled moments with you.

It was a lovely day out – Hever Castle is lovely.
I never knew Hever castle was where Anne Boleyn grew up. She’s one of the most tragic and fascinating figures in English history I think. Think I might have spotted one or two Oreos there too!
I also love the history associated with Anne Boleyn. Did you manage to spot all the Oreos?
Oh, I could just eat an Oreo and hot chocolate! Looks like a lovely day out. You got some lovely photos 🙂
Thanks – it was a beautiful day – just right for hot chocolate.
What a wonderful place, I’d love to visit Hever Castle one day. Great oreo hunting.
Hever Castle is beautiful and it’s not so huge so it’s not overwhelming for younger ones.
You have some very challenging hidden Oreos in your cookie quest! A for effort! x
Thanks – it was so much fun doing this. My daughter was going – ‘Mum, you can’t put the Oreo there!’ Ha!Ha!
Sounds like you had a great day out at Hever Castle hiding Oreos! We love a good scavenger hunt! That hot chocolate looks delicious too 🙂
The Hever Castle looks great! Now I really fancy Oreo with hot chocolate! Yummy! 🙂
