Top Horror Films to Watch This Halloween

It’s that time of year that everything has a very spooky feel. Now, I know that Halloween may not be everyone’s cup of tea and it’s not something that you may ‘celebrate’ per se. But who doesn’t love a good horror film and what better time to watch it than around Halloween?

Here are my top choices for Halloween –

The Conjuring

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuringtells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Annabelle

She terrified you in The Conjuring, but this is where it all began for Annabelle.

Capable of unspeakable evil, the actual doll exists locked up in an occult museum in Connecticut—visited only by a priest who blesses her twice a month. New Line Cinema’s supernatural thriller Annabelle begins before the evil was unleashed.

John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia—a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia’s delight with Annabelle doesn’t last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now… Annabelle.

Friend Request

Enjoying college life as a popular student, Laura shares everything with her more than 800 friends on Facebook. But one day, after accepting a friend request from a social outcast named Marina, Laura’s life is cursed, and her closest friends begin
dying cruel deaths. Before her time is up, Laura must solve the mystery behind Marina and her Facebook profile, in order to break the deadly spell.
Oculus

Ten years ago, tragedy struck the Russell family, leaving the lives of teenage siblings Tim and Kaylie forever changed when Tim was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents.

Now in his 20s, Tim is newly released from protective custody and only wants to move on with his life; but Kaylie, still haunted by that fateful night, is convinced her parents’ deaths were caused by something else altogether:  a malevolent supernatural force unleashed through the Lasser Glass, an antique mirror in their childhood home.

Determined to prove Tim’s innocence, Kaylie tracks down the mirror, only to learn similar deaths have befallen previous owners over the past century.  With the mysterious entity now back in their hands, Tim and Kaylie soon find their hold on reality shattered by terrifying hallucinations, and realise, too late, that their childhood nightmare is beginning again…

The Ward

Welcome to North Bend Psychiatric Hospital, an isolation ward for female offenders with a deadly secret guaranteed to terrify beyond words. Kristen (Amber Heard – Drive Angry) finds herself committed to The Ward after setting fire to an abandoned farmhouse.

Imprisoned in this terrifying asylum alongside a group of erratically behaved young women, Kristen not only faces overbearing wardens during the day but by night a savage ghostly figure  stalks The Ward hallway for her next victim to swallow into the darkness. Legendary slasher horror film director John Carpenter is back, proving “he is still the master of shock” (Movies Online).

The Gallows

Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy—but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.

The film stars Reese Mishler (the web series “Youthful Daze”), Pfeifer Brown (upcoming “My Many Sons”), Ryan Shoos (“As Night Comes”) and Cassidy Gifford (“God’s Not Dead”), under the direction of Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, who also wrote the screenplay.

The interesting thing is that I have a bundle of these films to giveaway. To win, all you need to do is follow me @jacintaz3 on Twitter and Retweet the Tweet below. There will be one winner chosen at random and announced on Twitter. The competition closes at midnight on 31st October 2016.
