As you may know, we’ve recently moved house. Thankfully it was during the holidays or I would have never coped. Well, to be honest I probably still didn’t. Moving home can be a most stressful experience – there’s so much to think of do. Packing is the worst bit but when you come down to it there are so many things that you have to take into account and remember to do – shut down utilities and make sure you know who your new supplier is, redirect mail, get the broadband sorted for when you arrive. And then of course, the problems at your new place. Nothing ever seems to work first shot.
I was recently asked to check out the new Money Supermarket Home Mover’s Hub and write about what I thought of it. I have to say that it’s really nice to have everything you need in one place. I’ve had to search in different places for different things and that’s been a constant gripe.
I particularly liked the Home Bill checker as I was able to check according to post code what my bill would be like. This would have been particularly helpful for me as I would have already been able to make a decision as to who was going to be my utility providers.
I liked going through all the suggestions for a smooth home move. I’m glad that I had already thought of one of the suggestions and kept the children out of the way while the actual moving process took place. Thanks to a good friend who looked after them for the better part of the day. 🙂
The suggestions for renting a home were too late for me but I wish I had access to them earlier as we didn’t really do a thorough check (taps etc) and there were a few problems that needed to be sorted out as soon as we moved in.
I also found the tip about the credit card while moving home most helpful. I know it’s something that we may consider obvious but when you have a house move hanging over your head, you tend to make mistakes.
I think that this is going to be very beneficial to people moving home. I wish that I had known about it when I was moving home. It would have saved me so much trouble.
If you are going to be moving home soon, it’s well worth it taking a look at the website. If you are buying a home then there is a cost of moving calculator that’s will help you know how much the move will cost.
I found the entire site loaded with helpful information and advice for Home Movers and I know I will be coming back to it when I next move.
