How many times have you said ‘Oh no, it’s Monday’? I have said it a number of times but I have to admit that Mondays can be rather nice too.
I quite like Mondays.
Monday is the first day of the week and it means that I have the rest of the week to look forward to. A new start. A chance to start a new week. An opportunity to do things over. Much like a new year.
I don’t know about you but I kind of have Monday resolutions – to get things done in the week to come, to do things better than the previous week, to try and right the wrongs of last week. I may have the same resolutions the next week – but that’s another story!! 😉
Don’t tell anyone but I actually look forward to the Monday morning school run. No, it’s not because I’m tired of having them around. I enjoy the school run (well, when it does not rain). It is the time when I get to walk with the children and talk about what they are looking forward to in the day. We play ‘I-Spy’, we stop to watch the ducks (when we are not running late) and the part I love most – is seeing them holding hands and walking in front of me.
I find that after the intial grouse of waking up early on a Monday, the children are also refreshed after the weekend and looking forward to school.
Monday also means that I have completed all my household chores – I tend to do all my washing and ironing for the week on the weekend as well as all the major cleaning etc. So, it’s a clean slate on Monday.
It means that I can come back after the school run and enjoy my cup of coffee knowing that most jobs have been completed.
After I came close to losing my life, I know that life is too short and I like to treasure each day. I treasure Mondays the most as being the first day of the week, I am thankful that I have another week to look forward to.
Thank Gosh it’s Monday – that’s my attitude now. I may have had a little inspiration from Spongebob!
