I have to be honest, I did not know much about the little Matilda Mae but since I came to know about it and the more I read about it…the sadder I feel.
It would have been her first birthday on 2nd May and Jennie and the family said their final goodbyes to her at Coombe Mill. And what a lovely goodbye!
I believe that our loved ones are stars in the sky and look down on us and this is what I also told my children when we lost my mum and now they always look up and say ‘There’s Grandma! The brightest one is always the one you love the most as they twinkle brighter to let you know they are there.
Matilda Mae is definitely shining bright.
I think anyone who reads about it, cannot help but be inspired to do something. As a mother myself, I cannot imagine what Jennie and her family must have gone through and continue to go through.
In coming to know about Matilda Mae, I have also learnt about the Matilda Mae auction that is being held in her memory to raise funds for The Lullaby Trust. I love helping children’s charities as I think children are the most vulnerable of all and need all the help and support they can get.
I will definitely be attending the auction on ebay and encourage you to do so as well.
It does not matter how much you donate because every drop makes an ocean.
