Spooky – 1Word Linky

Today’s Word is ‘Spooky’

With Halloween almost upon us, we thought it a good idea to link up spookily!

A short history about Halloween or All Hallows Eve – a celebration of all things spooky before the feast of All Saints on 1st November and all Souls’ Day on 2nd November. The earliest we know of it is 1745 and it has Christian significance.

Now Halloween is celebrated by carving pumpkins into Jack-o-lanterns, dressing up in fancy dress and going trick-or-treating and decorating.

I have written a short, fun poem to sum up the ‘spookiness’ of Halloween.

Spooky, spooky very spooky

Shadows dark in corners nooky

Spiders, webs and bats and owls

Nighttime screeches,fiendish ghouls

Is it time for Halloween?

Trick or treat and pumpkins seen

Witches, zombies, skeletons

Monsters making quite a din

Jack-o-lanterns, sweets galore

House to house and knocking doors

Going to parties, in fancy dress

Painted faces – hair a mess

Spooky, spooky very spooky

Everyone one seems oh! So kooky!
