Review – Cakes By Robin

Last week I got to review the most amazing cake!

When asked to review cake from Cakes by Robin, I didn’t hesitate. Who would?

I love cake, my husband loves cake, my children love cake!

The cakes on site look amazing and when asked which character I would like on the cake, I chose Peppa Pig seeing that she is a favourite with all the children and then, since Aeryn had just had a birthday (where I spent part of the day at BritMums Live, guilty, guilty), I asked her to put Aeryn’s name on.

The cake was hand delivered and it was definitely surpassed my expectations.

Here is what the cake looked like:

The cake had a sugar paste figure of Peppa on it, made quite realistically. Peppa sat on a cake of green icing decorated with beautiful leaves and flowers.

Too good to eat I know. The cake was exquisite –  each little leaf and flower so pretty. The children wanted to keep it, so did I!!

But, we also wanted to taste it – Big Time!

We sang ‘Happy Day to Us’ – well it had to be happy isn’t it? Seeing that we were about to tuck into the most amazing looking cake.

So…we cut it – together and to my surprise there was a lovely chocolate cake under the icing.

The cake was lovely and soft and moist and just delicious. We all had generous pieces and there was still quite a bit of it left over.

I transferred the remainder to the fridge and we savoured it over the next two days and the cake still remained fresh and tasted as good as ever.

The green sugar paste icing was slightly minty to taste and it complemented the cake really well.

We give the cake a whole hearted 10/10

A cake of this size retails at £65 and it can easily feed 8 – 10 people as it is a good 6 inches or in height too.

Please do visit the Cakes by Robin website next time you are having a celebration. Or pop in to her cake studio and shop in Wimbledon for some yummy cake.

There are cakes for every occasion so you will have an excuse to have the most delicious cake.

Disclosure: I was sent the cake for review. All ideas and opinions expressed are entirely my own.
