My blog has taught me a lot of things. One of them is to try and capture the best images around me. I was thrilled when Panasonic contacted me to be part of their Imaging bloggers.
I was even more thrilled when they sent me a TZ-55 to review. Yes, I did have a camera before that but the TZ-55 kind of took over once I received it.
Let me introduce you to this amazing little piece of photography. It would make an excellent Christmas present.
The Basic Specs –
- 20 x Zoom
- 16 Megapixels High sensitivity MOS Sensor
- Full HD Video Recording
- Tiltable Screen
- Creative Control
- Wi-Fi Certified
Now if you are like me and need to google various camera features, I have tried to make it easy by telling you just how great it is to use and what you can do with it.
Size – I love the size. It is handy to carry around and it takes some great photos. It fits perfectly in my handbag even if I carry a slightly smaller one.
Zoom – The Zoom feature is great as it still provides steady images at full zoom.
The battery life is pretty impressive – approximately 350 pictures. Just what I need. I have also not used the camera for some time (about 2 weeks) and gone back to it and it still retained charge.
Tiltable Screen – Perfect for those selfie moments. You can flip up the 3″ screen to 180 degrees.
Creative Control allows you to work with your photos on the camera itself. There are different effects like Sepia, Old days, Impressive Art, Toy Effect, High Dynamic and much more. Perfect for me where time is a factor.
Wi-Fi – I was a little mistaken where this was concerned. I thought that you could automatically upload to the internet (Facebook, Twitter etc). You can’t. What you can do is send it to your smart device (phone, tablet) via Wi-Fi and then you can share it from there. Just a bit more time but pretty great anyway. It does save time and it releases storage space too (something that I always need more of)
Controlling the camera with your smart device – This is a fun thing and very handy too. Once you download the Panasonic Image App, you can then control the camera through your smart device.
I love the Intelligent Auto. For people like me, with 3 children in tow, trying to take the best images possible, I need to aim and click. Let the camera do the rest.
In Scene Mode you can choose the mode of shooting – Baby, Food, Sunset, Glass Through (great for taking an image through glass), Portrait and more.
Here are some images that I have taken over the past few months. The images have been displayed here as they have been shot. I have used the Creative Control option and mentioned this to showcase the feature.
Low light – the camera shutter clicks 4 times for the best shot

The camera retails at about £200 but there are deals so you could get it for considerably less.
It is a neat, handy camera perfect for taking photos on the go and the photos are quite amazing too. It is a wonderful way of creating memories and would make an ideal Christmas present. It even comes in two other colours – white and this lovely shade of wine.
