My Darling Girls – Love, Mummy

Today 11th October is International Day of the Girl. I thought it was apt to write a letter to my two girls, to let them know how much I love them….

My Darling Girls,

I still remember the day I held you in my arms for the first time. When you nuzzled into me – I fell instantly in love each time!

I knew that I would love you for a lifetime, be there to protect you, guide you if you needed me and always be there to support you.

I hope in time we can also become the best of friends and you can trust me enough to tell me any and everything. (like I was with Grandma!)

I know we will have our moments – of disagreements, arguments even (we are much alike in so many ways) but through it all I know we will still harbour that love that connected us the moment you started growing in me.

I worry about you, all the time. There are so many hurdles you may have to face – teasing, bullying, friendship and relationships, social media and I hope that you will be able to discuss any problem with me and I can give you some sound advice. (Which hopefully you will take!!)

You may sometimes feel that I am strict and may be even old fashioned but this is just me being protective and wanting the best for you.

I am waiting to go through all life’s experiences with you – good, bad and ugly but I am hoping that we will have more of the good than the bad and ugly!

And when you bring your first boyfriend home – be sure to warn him that he shall be under intense scrutiny.

I have seen you grow into wonderful little girls – caring, talented, pretty and intelligent. (all characteristics that were obviously handed down from me!!) 🙂

All I can ever want for you is your happiness.

And one day when you become mums yourselves, you will realise exactly what I am talking about.

I love you from the sky to the earth and back again and all round the world…and back again!

Mummy
