Lunch at American Girl Place, The Grove LA

Last month we set out to brave the LA traffic to head into downtown Los Angeles for a very special visit to the American Girl Place at The Grove, Los Angeles.

If you’ve never heard of the American Girl brand or the store, this is your heads up.

The American Girl brand features dolls, accessories, and books and strongly believes in ‘creating girls of strong character’. Indeed the dolls featured in the line are strong characters from different backgrounds that make them so special.

We were invited to visit the store and share in the amazing experience.

From the moment you walk into the store, you’re filled with wonder. The store is beautifully decorated and there are friendly faces on hand to help to maximize your store experience.

We were booked to have lunch at 11 am and we were checked in and shown our places. I love the fact that you don’t need to have an American Girl doll for the experience. You can actually borrow a doll from the many on hand to sit with you at your table.

The menu has a lot to choose from – from burgers to salads to pasta – there is something for everyone.

We had taken our Blaire doll with us and she was provided with a seat and some dinnerware (that you can take home). You also get some hair ties with the napkins.

Everything in the dining room is quite spellbinding for a child and it is a little girl’s dream.

The meal starts with cinnamon buns – they were the right amount of chewy and sweet and warm and delicious.

Then we chose our mains – burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, pasta, and linguine. All cooked to perfection and such a great quantity that we couldn’t finish it.

But of course, there is ALWAYS room for dessert and this was the signature chocolate mousse a cupcake.

Stuffed and surfeit, we then made it down to the salon where Blaire got a makeover and I must say she looked lovely. It’s such a treat to have your doll get her hair done. I almost wish I could have had mine done too.

We also chose some matching pajamas for Aeryn and Blaire. We also had to get Blaire’s pig.

It was a magical day and I would definitely do it again.

For $24 per person (plus tax and gratuity) it is such good value for money and the experience is priceless. The staff are friendly and on hand but not hovering (which is perfect) and the ambience is every child’s dream.
