We love to read at our home and we read a lot. Unfortunately, I have not been putting up as many book reviews as I would like to but I am hoping to change all that this year.
We were sent these lovely Little Snappers series by Caterpillar Books from Little Tiger Press and they are lovely. The books are written by Jonathon Litton and illustrated by Kasia Nowowiejska.
The first one is called – Snip Snap Pop-up Fun.
This book brings to life jungle animals in their habitat.
We enjoyed reading this book. The illustrations are bold and bright and will definitely hold the interest of children. Within the book you meet a lion, an elephant, a giraffe, a monkey and a crocodile. If you lift the flap up and down, the monkey’s tail moves and this was a big hit with my little one.
The font is large and engaging and is also great for children who are learning to read independently.
The rhyme also tells of where the animals are normally seen and there is a lot to discuss with older children.
The other one we received is called – Cheep Cheep Pop-up Fun
This book is all about farm animals that pop out at you.
The children loved this one too. Again, the illustrations are simple but bold and colourful – so very attractive to children. You meet your favourite farm animals – a cow, sheep, chicks, pig and horse. There is a lot to discuss – since there are phrases like ‘woolly creature’ ‘stable door’ – where children can associate and guess the animal before lifting the flap.
Easy to read for beginners too, this book is loads of fun.
Both books are ideal for bedtime and highly recommended.
