Letts 11+ Success Verbal Reasoning Practice Test Papers Review

Jadyn is in Year 5 but I am always aware that she will soon be sitting for her SATS. It may be year away but the way time flies, I know it will soon be upon us.

In her school, she also takes the optional SATS so I work with her at home on test papers etc. She blames it on my teaching background.

We were recently sent the Letts 11+ Success Verbal Reasoning book to review. It contains 4 complete test papers with multiple choice questions. It also contains answers and explanations which I find really useful for a child to understand where she has gone wrong.

Most children find tests daunting and for many parents too this is a stressful time as they sometimes cannot support the child as much has changed in the curriculum since they passed out of school. The Letts series contain notes for parents so that you can support your child.

I find that this book is an excellent way of getting children acquainted with the type of tests that they will be taking in the future. I do know that some secondary schools have students take a test and many of these are non verbal reasoning tests. This book will be excellent practice for Jadyn to take this sort of test.

Here is an example question –

The practice papers are timed so it ensures that children learn to manage time effectively. I found the papers challenging but solvable for children of the target age. I went through some of the questions with Jadyn and she is able to answer most.

Letts 11+ success is a series of books which include practice papers in English, Maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

The Letts series from Harper Collins is well known for supplementing schoolwork at home to make your child more confident and preparing them for tests. I know I will be getting many of these during the school holidays so that the children can keep up with their studies.

The book is priced at £8.99 and is available in major book stores.
