You don’t have to be Italian to enjoy pizza – especially one that is freshly made; especially one that is made in Pizza Express!
On being given an opportunity to review Pizza Express, I was quite thrilled as I knew that this was a meal that we would all enjoy. However, the entire experience far exceeded our expectations and kudos to the team at Pizza Express at getting the perfect blend of excellent customer service and quality, delicious food.
We visited the Pizza Express Restaurant in Windsor, the one just opposite the castle and we had a table with a view of the castle. It was lovely.
The children on being sat down were given their menus which also had some puzzles and pictures to colour and stickers too, to keep them occupied. I have to mention that the colour pencils given to them were sharpened so that they could use them effectively. I have been to some places where the children get pencils without the tips. Very frustrating for the children and me. However, here they were sharpened to a point which was really nice. It’s the little things…
The ambience was lovely – nothing exceptionally fancy but clean and well kept which is what I look for.
The food – was scrumptious.
For starters Hubs and I shared an antipasti platter for 2 and this was made up of dough sticks – soft, warm sticks of dough perfect for dipping or as an accompaniment to the mozzarella, salami, sun dried tomatoes, peppers and the olives provided.
Main course was pizza of course. We both tried out their new pizzas as part of the Spring Menu. Hubs tried the Polla Forza while I tried the Leggera pizza – Sloppy Guiseppe. Both were absolutely Yum!
The children had children’s meals which included dough balls, a pizza and dessert for £6.50 which I think is excellent value for money.
Both of them had American pepperoni and Aeryn shared some of theirs as the dough balls itself were filling enough for her. The pizzas were deliciously soft and the children wolfed them down.
For dessert, the children had ice cream and a Chococino and Hubs had the summer pudding and I had the Panna Cotta which were both out of this world.
The summer pudding was served with Mascarpone and this complimented the pudding perfectly.
The Panna Cotta is something that you have to try if you go there. Its the best I have ever tasted. It is smooth and creamy and light and delicious. The perfect way to end a meal.
The service was great with our waiter Duarte extremely attentive and yet not in our face constantly. He was at hand for anything we required yet not hovering over us to make us uncomfortable.
We all enjoyed our meal and the children also polished off all their food. Ethan is quite a fussy water so for him to clean the plate means the meal has to be good.
What I liked about the meal is that though we were full the food was not heavy.
Pizza Express is an excellent choice when thinking of a family meal out as it caters to adults and children and all the food is served warm and freshly cooked and beautifully presented too. The prices are inexpensive and are excellent value for money.
With restaurants all over the country there is always one that you can visit. It may be a good idea to make a reservation though to avoid sad faces.
