I just love going to the Toy Fair. I try and make it every year because I love to check out the new toy ranges for the year. I know then what I would love to review on my blog and I know what the children would be thrilled with. Left to them, it would be everything but since I’m wise and more selective, I choose.
This year I saw some amazing new toys all set to be a rage in 2018. Some of them are already out and some are scheduled to come out later in the year. There are some brilliant new brands too.
Normally my visit is quite unstructured. This time round though, I had some meetings scheduled as well as a viewing of Vampirina.
As we love all things Disney, I couldn’t miss taking in the second season of this popular children’s series. Here’s a little more about Vampirina –
Vampirina, starring Lauren Graham, James Van Der Beek and Isabella Crovetti as the Hauntley family of friendly vampires, tells their story. They have recently relocated from Transylvania to Pennsylvania. Produced by Dublin based, Academy Award®-nominated and BAFTA® -winning animation studio Brown Bag Films in association with Disney Junior, the first season is fast shaping up to be a global hit, with over 49 million total viewers worldwide. Following its UK premiere in October 2017, the show ranked number one with viewers aged 4+, reaching 1.6 million in six weeks alone.
The full range of Vampirina toys were on display for the first time to UK audiences.
The new products include Scare B&B Playset, Bat-tastic talking Vee and Wolfie and much more.
Vampirina blends spooky fun, heartfelt storytelling and Broadway-calibre music and follows Vampirina(aka “Vee”) as she faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town, making friends and attending a new school in the human world. D’Ambrosia said, “Vampirina’s relatable experience of being a young girl trying to adapt and blend in with her new schoolmates, while also celebrating her own uniqueness, has resonated with our audience of young kids and families. We look forward to sharing more stories about the loveable young Vee, her new friends and her fantastical world of dancing gargoyles, playful ghosts and cuddly werewolves.”
Inspired by Disney Publishing’s popular children’s book series Vampirina Ballerina, written by Anne Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, the series includes leaders from the creative team on Disney Junior’s Peabody Award-winning animated series Doc McStuffins, including executive producer Chris Nee and co-executive producer Norton Virgien. Broadway composers Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond (The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes) are the series’ songwriters and Layla Minoui (Castle) is the composer.
I really enjoyed watching the two episodes that we were shown and I came back got watching with the kids too. I love the music in the series too. It’s funny and yet can relate to real life too.
I was thrilled to see some lovely Vampirina Toys from Flair especially the Bat-tastic Talking Vee Doll, Beanies and the Fantastic Figures Set and we can’t wait to have a play with some of them. Watch this space because there’s soon going to be an announcement where you can win some of the toys from the range. (I’ll give you a hint – *Twitter Party*)
Do you have a little Vampirina fan?
