Your Guide to Keeping the Kids Entertained this Summer

As the summer holidays are just around the corner, it’s time you started thinking about how you can keep the whole family entertained. After all, it would be a shame not to take advantage of the 6 week holidays where you can spend as much time with your kids as possible. Thinking of creative ways to keep them occupied while creating new memories as a family is ideal before September rolls around; you’ll be surprised at how quickly it comes around!
It’s not always easy as a parent to entertain your kids for the whole 6 weeks due to work commitments and day-to-day life, so it’s a good idea to try and plan a family trip where you can relax too. Rather than keeping your children in the house or at a summer club, take them to a new destination or fill their days with exciting activities. Thanks to our often busy schedules, we often forget what’s right on our doorstep. Treating your family to a Lake District break could be what you all need this summer! So, how do you keep the kids entertained?

Experience something interesting

We all want our kids to experience something different and expand their knowledge or skills. The Lake District is an area that offers the chance to explore nature at its best, and partake in a multitude of activities that will have them laughing and having fun all day long.
A stunning area of the country, the Lake District caters for the whole family; from the kids to the grandparents. Keep your children off their video games and immerse them in an area that will leave them in awe. From the highest mountains to the biggest lakes, spend a weekend or longer uncovering its gems.

Explore the wilderness
The Lake District is renowned for a number of different things. Whether you’re the outdoors type or not, you’ll no doubt throw yourself into everything the area has to offer. Home to 16 lakes and some of the biggest mountains in the country, as well as numerous fells to climb, you can spend your time taking in nature at its best.
Depending on your abilities, tackle some of the bigger fells or keep it simple and take a leisurely stroll around the lake; the choice is all yours. The best bit about it all; the kids will love running wild and exploring in the summer weather.
If you fancy something a little more active, there’s no better place than the Lake District to get on your bikes! Spoilt for choice with so many beautiful country lanes and cycleways, enjoy the views as you cycle along with your kids. There’s even proper mountain biking routes should you wish to challenge yourself.

Thrill-seeking adventures

The Lake District is so much more than going on a walk or cycling along the lanes. Thanks to the amount of lakes in the area, watersports is hugely popular and many families spend their afternoons on the lake itself. In the north of the District, you can participate in anything from power boating to windsurfing to canoeing.
Whether you’ve done it before or it’s brand new, your kids might learn a new skill and have a great day out doing something different and memorable.
