Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Studio Review

I have hand stitched clothes – hemmed or sewn on buttons etc but never used a machine. Why? simply because my Mum always stitched using the machine and I never had a need too. When I moved away from home, there never was a need to own a sewing machine. I have always wanted one though and so has Jadyn. Lucky for us to be sent this Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Studio to review.

The Sewing Studio includes a Pro sewing machine, foot pedal, mains adapter, instructions, scissors, one measuring tape, two spare machine needles, one sewing needle, one needle threader, two metal bobbins, two thread reels, 20 headed pins, one pattern for the clutch bag and assorted fabrics.

It is a great kit for both beginners and slightly more experienced sewing enthusiasts.

Design – It is the perfect size as it is not too big and not too small. It has some great safety features like the safety guard over the needle, two speed settings and a foot pedal which allows for better control.

Set up – It was easy to set up with the instructions (at least the first bit of threading the needle as all you need do is follow the numbers). We found it a bit fiddly to thread the bobbin. I had to do it for her but it still kept coming undone after a few lengths of stitching. I was probably doing it wrong though and have to look into it as I threaded it right but I had to keep redoing it.

Working – It works a breeze and Jadyn found it easier to manage with the foot pedal so she could guide the fabric. There is an automatic function and this is great when she acquires more skills at using it.

As mentioned above, the studio included a clutch bag pattern which is perfect to start using the machine and create something as it’s all there before you. She needed help with some bits as the seams were quite thick in places but all in all, the bag came out really well for a first time experience.

Jadyn also mentioned that she uses a machine in school as part of Design Technology so it’s great for her to get some practice at home.

The Great British Sewing Bee Sewing Studio is priced at about £49.99 and is available at all major retailers like Amazon

I think this is a great gift and is definitely one to add to your Christmas list. It definitely gets the Elves’ Choice badge.
