Film Review: Paddington 2

You can’t help loving a bear in a blue coat and a red hat, can you? Paddington is a household name in many British homes. He certainly is in ours.

We enjoyed watching Paddington – The Movie and we couldn’t wait to watch Paddington 2.

We were invited to a special screening of Paddington 2 at the Soho Hotel in London and we were quite excited.

We were treated to some marmalade sandwiches and pastries and got to meet Paddington himself.

Of course, the highlight of the day was the film.

What it’s about…

The much-anticipated sequel to the worldwide hit family film finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief…

A Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production, Paddington’s return to the big screen is helmed by BAFTA nominated director Paul King (PADDINGTON, COME FLY WITH ME, THE MIGHTY BOOSH) written by Paul King and Simon Farnaby (PADDINGTON, YONDERLAND and MINDHORN).

Paddington 2 is produced by multi award-winning David Heyman (producer of all eight of the HARRY POTTER films, GRAVITY, THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM)

What we thought…

We loved every bit of it. It was funny and emotional in parts. Paddington is seen as an integral part of the community in London where he lives with the Brown family. The people around love him and kind of rely on him to kickstart their day. When he is accused of stealing the book, we see how the family don’t give up on him and do everything they can to clear him name.

Within the storyline, there are hilarious scenes and some more poignant ones. It will make you laugh out loud and love Paddington a whole lot more.

The cast were perfect to their roles and it is a perfect family film to watch during the season.
