I have a tough time keeping up with the characters from Ever After High, but Jadyn seems to know all about them. When I was given an opportunity to review an Ever After High Rebel doll, I asked her which one she would like. I was quite surprised that she had her choice ready with reasons to her preference.
If you didn’t know –
Ever After High is a boarding school located in the Fairytale World. It is attended by the teenage children of fairy tale characters, destined to follow in their parents’ footsteps and keep their stories alive throughout the generations. Supposedly, if they don’t follow their individual destinies, their stories will cease to exist and they will disappear forever according to Headmaster Milton Grimm. This problem is the core conflict of the story.
The main characters are Raven Queen (who does not want to be evil like her mother the Evil Queen) and Apple White (the daughter of Snow White who is destined to live “happily ever after” after being victimized by Raven). Raven would prefer to be free to create her own destiny while Apple (in order to protect her own “happily ever after”) believes that Raven should become the next Evil Queen. The students are generally divided between two groups: the “Royals” and “Rebels”. The Royals are the students on Apple White’s side who embrace their destinies and are content with their fates. The Rebels are the students on Raven Queen’s side who prefer the idea of creating their own destinies.
Now, Jadyn was quite happy to be chosen to review a Rebel doll as she told me, rightly so, that they are those who create their own destinies. She said she likes the idea of being a rebel. I do have my work cut out for me, don’t I?
She chose to have C.A. Cupid, the daughter of Eros. I can see why. The doll is lovely.
She has beautiful, pink hair and comes with wings, a bow, a quiver of arrows and a hair brush. Jadyn loves her outfit especially her golden boots that have wings on them. (I’d love a pair of those myself!). The wings are removable so you can play with her as an ordinary doll too. The bow can be connected to her hand with a handle. It does fit better in her right hand.
The doll is rather exquisite to look at and I love the attention to detail. The theme of the heart and arrow continues in all her accessories. Her hairband has has a heart with an arrow through it, her boots have hearts on them, her dress has an arrow with a heart design on the skirt and even the little collar that attaches the wings to her neck is in the shape of an arrow. It’s the little details that make a doll stand out from others.
The back of the box has some information about her character and is we love the fact that she likes mythology. Also be sure to remove the stand that you can see through the keyhole. 🙂 The doll also comes with a storybook/bookmark.
Jadyn loves the doll and plays with her often. She was introduced to the other Monster High dolls that she has. This is her first Ever After High doll.
The doll is priced at £21.99 and we think that it is good value for money. It is of a great quality as one associates with Mattel. Aimed at children aged 6 upwards, this would make an excellent gift for a rebel.
There are other characters in the range and you can view them here
