Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Getaway: Review

We enjoy reading all the Wimpy Kid books and we are huge fans. The children were thrilled to be amongst the first few in the world to have a sneak peek at the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book – The Getaway by Jeff Kinney.

We were sent this sleepover bundle to get us into the mood and the children couldn’t wait to get tucked into the book.

What’s the story…

With this new adventure, Diary of A Wimpy Kid: The Getaway, readers won’t be able to stop laughing as they join Greg and his family on a holiday trip to remember. To escape the stress of the holidays, the Heffleys decide to get out of town and go to a resort instead of celebrating Christmas at home, but what’s billed as a stress-free vacation becomes a holiday nightmare. Filled with Kinney’s trademark hilarity, accessibility, and pure fun, this latest Wimpy Kid instalment is sure to delight fans once again.

What we thought…

Since we are huge fans we may be biased but you’ve got to admit the Wimpy Kid never disappoints. We enjoyed reading the book and it was great to see that the same theme of fun carried on in this book. Of course underlying the fun,  are the usual family problems and I personally found myself nodding in agreement to things. The children also said ‘just like mum’ or ‘just like one of them’ when certain events occurred.

Accompanied by some hilarious illustrations, this book is definitely set to go down well with any Wimpy Kid fan.

It’s one to have on the Christmas list for sure.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Getaway is priced at £12.99 and it is available at all major booksellers and retailers.
