‘It’s that time of the year when LOVE is in the air…and it makes me feel old!
I remember when I was younger, Valentine’s Day was about receiving flowers and gifts and cards and going out for a romantic dinner.
Now, Valentine’s Day involves a dinner with children, preparing heart shaped cookies for them, a special packed lunch (as demanded by my daughter) and making it special for them.
I think it has to do with the fact that Valentine’s Day is now being advertised more as a day of Love – between parents and children, grandparents, teachers – it is not only a day for couples.
This Valentine’s Day however, I am hoping to take some time out, well after the children are in bed to spend some time with Hubs. All the children sleep through the night and go to bed on time which leaves us with a little time to ourselves.
I always feel that ever since we have had children, we have lost the romance. Yes, we love each other but we have stopped making the time to be ‘in love’ with each other.
So what am I planning on doing? Well, first of all I am going to give the children an early meal and then am going to cook a special dinner for Hubs and myself – candlelight and everything.
Now to the purpose of this post – I signed up to review Durex Embrace as part of my Valentine’s Day plans. Blush! Blush!
I think we are all adults and realise that my children were conceived the natural way – no, the stork did not deliver them.
Why did I agree to review it? Well, I just thought we could try out something new! (Whatever did I get myself into?)
If you think there will be pictures to accompany this post, you better stop reading right here. There will not be any. Although, when I mentioned it to someone, I was asked if I had to post pictures. Likely not!
What is Durex Embrace? When we hear ‘Durex’ we think of one thing. It’s not that. It is also not a sex toy so forget all those naughty thoughts. It consists of 2 gels that when used produces a warming and tingling sensation.
My initial thoughts on the product…
I thought it was quite nicely packaged although I thought both the colours were quite girly (pink and purple) so it could be mistaken to be only for women.
How did it work for us? Right now, this is the part that I strangely amusing. I mean it is fine to get ‘into the mood’ and make the night magical but to actually ‘review’ something connected to private moments, had me dissolving into fits of giggles like a teenager and yeah you guessed it…spoil the mood. It does have a warm feeling if used but not so sure about the tingling as it just felt quite warm. The feeling does not last very long (which is good as personally it did feel a bit uncomfortable) There was no burning feeling or breaking into a rash or anything but you will probably break out in a sweat, if you know what I mean! 😉
Besides I think it is fine to use as a massage gel to give you a warm feeling on these cold nights.
Would I recommend it? Honestly? I would not go around shouting it out on the rooftops that this is a product you have to try but then I don’t normally do that. If someone wanted to try it out and asked my opinion then I would not put them off either. It may not have caused fireworks’ for us but it does not mean that it may not work for someone else.
It is not an unpleasant feeling that you are left with and it is probably nice to bring back the romance in your life by trying something new so I would say that if you are thinking of trying it out, do give it a shot!
Disclosure: I was provided with the product and received compensation for an honest review. All ideas and opinions are completely my own.
