The Camakila Legian, Bali – Review

Last year, we made a very last minute trip to Bali. It was decided within a week and we had our tickets booked. All we needed to do was decide on a hotel.

The first thing to do was to decide which part of Bali, we wanted to stay in. There are a few places and each has it own merits. We could stay at Kuta, a place which is famous for it’s night life or stay at Sanur, a quiet place for families. In the end we decided on Legian, kind of halfway between the two.

After researching a number of hotels, we decided to go with The Camakila Legian, a four star hotel with 2 pools, spa and very near the beach.

We also got a pretty good deal on the price.

We booked a taxi through the hotel and it was waiting for us on arrival at the airport. It took us about 30 minutes by car to reach the hotel.

As we checked in, we were greeted with a delicious welcome drink – so needed after the blast of heat that hit us on entry to the city.

We were shown to our rooms – we had asked for connecting rooms. The rooms were a good size and came with a television and DVD player. Free wifi was provided for the duration of our stay. We were also given 2 complimentary passes for a 10 minute massage at their Spa.

Both had en-suite facilities too.

Our room had a double bed and the children had 2 singles and a sofa bed.

Each room had a balcony too.

Air-conditioning of course, was available.

There was also a fruit basket waiting for us and the great thing is that everyday, each room was provided with 2 bottles of mineral water.

We had complimentary breakfast served everyday at the Azaa Restaurant by the pool. It was a buffet breakfast and there was always a wide selection of food. We could choose how we wanted our eggs served and this was brought to us freshly cooked.

A selection of cereals was available as well as Balinese food that you could try – noodles and curry etc.

The best part was the pool. There was one large pool which we always used and a smaller infinity pool at the back of the hotel. The large pool had just the right temperature and perfect for kids as it’s not too deep.

Being near the restaurant also made it possible to order drinks or snacks at will.

The staff at The Camakila are lovely. They are always smiling and ready to help.

I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel. It is ideal for families. Shops and restaurants are easily accessible. Taxis are available just outside the hotel and can be booked for the day to visit nearby tourist places.
