Beats Headphones help make the work from home environment more fun

Working from home looks like the ideal position that you can be in when you’re a Mum. But it does come with some cons. Thank goodness for my Beats headphones.

As a work from home Mum, I’m thankful that I can be there for my children 24/7 and have the flexibility to make sure that the house is taken care of.

But I also missed having colleagues that were so much a part of work in my previous jobs. I made some firm friends who I still keep in touch with today. Yes, blogging has made me a part of a community where I have made some great friends too but it’s not sharing work related problems or going out for a meal from work or sharing in office gossip (we all do, dont we?)

I also miss getting dressed up for work because let’s face it, it’s quite easy to blog in pyjamas. I am normally dressed in what I call school run clothes which comprise of jeans and a t-shirt most days of the week. When I was working outside the home, I took pains to dress the part. It was much like going out for a PR event or meeting.

It can get quite lonely being home all day and getting on with work. You hardly speak to people about work unless you call someone and this would obviously be more of a personal call.

So, it means that it’s up to me to make my home working environment more fun. And here’s where the perks of being a work from home Mum come in.

One easy way to make work more fun is by listening to music. Since I’m my own boss, I can listen to whatever music pleases me. I don’t have a whining teen cribbing about my playlist like I do in the car. This is ‘me-time’ at its best. I have my own playlist that ensures a better working environment and I normally use my Beats headphones as it just makes the whole experience better. I am entirely in my own world and it seems to inspire me to write better.

I also make it a point to take a lunch break and not work at my desk (or on my sofa, as the case may be). I actually take time off to make something for lunch and have it at my dining table. This takes me away from my screen and its during this time that I catch up with my phone calls etc.

Some days I dress up like I really am going out to work. Even if it’s as simple as putting on some lipstick. And people notice. Like when I turn up to pick the kids from school and my mum friends ask me where I’ve been that day.

Do you work from home? What do you do to make the work from home environment more fun?
