National Science and Engineering Week takes place from 14 – 23 March 2014 and is a 10 day programme of science, engineering, technology and maths events and activities aimed at people of all ages.
This year we are thrilled to be trying out a ‘Make your own’ nail polish as part of Science Week. What could be nicer?
We received this Interplay Wild Science Magic Nail Lab and Jadyn of course was over the moon. She could not wait to get ‘experimenting’.
The Magic Nail Lab contains:
- Clear Polish Base
- Photochromatic Nail Stickers
- Shimmer Effect
- Stirring Sticks
- Red & White Colourants
- Buffer & Sandpaper File
- Gift Bottle
- Colour Instruction Manual
Here is how we got on:
The colour was a lovely light pink and when we added the stickers that seemed transparent, they became pink in the sunshine. Next time we will be trying the white nail polish with the stickers to see them change colour.
It was very simple to make the nail polish and now we are going to try out some more mixes to get our very own unique nail colour. The nail polish washes off so I had no problem letting Jadyn have it on during the weekend and it washed off in time for school on Monday.
I also liked that there was no strong odour that is associated with shop bought nail polish.
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. The pack contains everything for a great nail art session.
I have to admit that I was quite excited to try it out too and was very pleased with the results.
This set is perfect for a girly sleepover or even a party where the girls can get together and make nail polish and then use it to paint their nails.
And it just proves that science can be very interesting and a whole lot of fun too!!
