Chilli Con Carne Recipe

500 gms minced beef

400 gms red kidney beans (you can use the tinned ones too)

400 gms tinned chopped tomatoes

1 tsp chilli powder

1 onion sliced

1tsp ground cumin

1 beef stock cube (made up in about 250ml of water)

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1 tsp ginger paste

1 tsp garlic paste

Chinese rice wine/ Red wine

 

I used the dried kidney beans. I soaked them in water overnight and then boiled them till soft. I used a pressure cooker so it didn’t take very long.

It is fine to use canned kidney beans.

Since I used my Tefal Actifry, I put just a little oil and fried the onions for 5 minutes. I added the ginger and garlic and the chilli powder, cayenne pepper and the cumin and cooked for a further 2 minutes.

Then I added the meat and let that cook for about 7 – 10 minutes.

I added the chopped tomatoes, kidney beans, beef stock and a little dash of wine and cooked for a further 5 minutes.

Serve hot with rice and a dash of sour cream.
