Our Stay at The Azteca Hotel at Chessington World of Adventures

As you must know I have reviewed Chessington before and if you follow my blog regularly you will have read how excited we were to be invited to the Chessington Azteca Hotel Launch.

A launch? Yes – it meant that we got to try it out before anyone else (well, together with other press members and bloggers)

There was no end to the excitement from the day that I received the invitation. I was excited too. I knew it was going to be fun.

Well, we got to stay in the Discovery Room on the first floor of the Azteca Hotel. We were shown to our rooms and I must say that the rooms were lovely. I say rooms as the family rooms sleep upto 5 people. There is a room with a double bed and then a children’s room which has a bunk bed and an extra mattress.

The bathroom is also a good size and what I liked about it, is that the shower was not fixed. I personally don’t care for fixed showers and my children  – well they don’t like the water to go on their faces.

The children’s room had a television and also housed a safe which they had to solve clues to open for a surprise treat!

The rooms are themed and we had a jungle theme which was perfect for Chessington. There carpets also reflected the theme.

The mattresses were comfortable and the children could not wait to climb in and have a rest (even though they had had a nap in the car on the journey to Chessington.

But, we had a pretty tight schedule that day so no napping. You see, there was an evening of entertainment planned for us as well as a scrumptious dinner.

We made our way to the Temple Bar and Restaurant and we were treated to cocktails for the adults and mocktails for the children. There was face painting and jugglers and magicians. There were also canapes and the prawns were delicious!

After this, we were called in for a brief talk on the facilities of the new hotel and we were also given a tour of all the hotel had to offer.

We were then treated to a tribal dance show which was really enjoyable.

And then – it was time for dinner. We settled at our tables to have a delicious dinner of kebabs, pasta for the children, salads and the most amazing desserts.

We also took our photos playing dress up.

We visited the Rangers Club where there was some dancing for the children to join and keep active.

After dinner, it was time for the fire eaters show which was dampened a bit as the rain played spoilsport but we did see a little bit of the performance and that bit was quite spectacular.

Of course, the children could not wait to get back to their room and they both went straight to bed – 1) because they were tired and 2)they wanted to try out the bunk beds.

We had a very restful sleep and woke up bright and early to have our breakfast and take advantage of the early rider benefit.

Breakfast was again delicious with a wide variety of food available and we were treated to a visit by Alex which got the children very excited.

We had an amazing day going on all the rides and the children just can’t get enough of visiting Chessington. Our favourite ride remains The Scorpion Express.

Chessington is my favourite theme park as there is something for everyone to do there. The zoo/animals also make it perfect for children who may not like rides.

Staying at the hotel does give you added benefits as you can avail of

  • Character Breakfasts
Rise and dine with one of their famous friends from Madagascar!
  • Animal Meet & Greets
Get “up close and personal” with some of their amazing animals. From the exotic and endangered, to the cute and cuddly!
  • The Rangers Club
Kids evening entertainment including interactive mini shows with song and dance and family party games.
  • Early Rider
Priority access to selected rides before the park officially opens at 10am.
  • Evening access to Wanyama Village & Reserve
Say goodnight to some of the animals with an evening walk round Wanyama.
  • Evening access to AMAZU
Go wild with the monkeys on the brand new treetop walkway.
  • Giraffe feeding – £10 per person
For a truly wild and unique experience start your day by feeding the majestic giraffe from the Wanyama lookout

They are all subject to availability and change.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and a big thank you to Chessington and the team who made this possible. We also came away with a lovely goody bag.

Would we go again? Most definitely.
