I don’t know if you were following our #AnnieMovieParty on Twitter yesterday but if you were you know that we really enjoyed the film.
We were sent a few goodies to enjoy the film with and Sandy was by far the most popular.
Annie is probably familiar in most households with most people having seen the version that came out in 1982 (wow, was it that long ago?) I remember seeing it with my family and I loved it. I watched it again with the children on DVD.
When I knew that there was a remake, I couldn’t wait to see how it compared to the previous version. I needn’t have worried, it was just as amazing.
We loved the modern setting, the reference to social media and the beautiful smart home. I was glad that some of the songs were left pretty much the same especially my favourite – ‘The sun will come out tomorrow’. The little girl, Quvenzhane, who acts as Annie is adorable. All the actors were well suited to their roles. I was quite interested to see how Cameron Diaz would play the part of Miss Hannigan but she played it perfectly.
There were funny moments, poignant moments and a happy ending. All this accompanied by a great soundtrack makes it a film for all the family to enjoy.
We had a lovely Sunday afternoon watching the movie together as a family and I have no doubt that we will be watching it more often in the coming weeks.
Annie is out on DVD and Blu-Ray today, 27th April. It is a lovely movie to add to the home collection.
I have a giveaway running where you can win an Annie DVD. If you’d like to win a copy, click here.
