My Little Pony – The Movie:Review

Last Sunday, we headed off to a very exciting event – the premiere of My Little Pony: The Movie. Now, we are huge fans of My Little Pony and when we received the invitation, it was met with huge squeals of excitement. Dress code: Sparkles and Rainbows meant we had many days in the run up deciding what we’d wear. Unfortunately, I seem to have nothing sparkly in my wardrobe. This must change!

The event was held at the Ham Yard Hotel in Soho and we love going there. We were treated to breakfast and pony makeovers and the setting was all very sparkly and pretty.

There were loads of the My Little Pony toys on display too. They’re all amazing and our special favourite is Twilight Sparkle.

Then we settled down to watch the film.

The story

When a dark force threatens Ponyville, the Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria to save their town. On the way they meet new friends (and enemies) and face exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship to save their home.

The film has an all-star voice cast including Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba and Zoe Saldana.

What we thought

We loved the film and enjoyed the concept. It kept one entertained throughout. It tells of friendship and how good friends always look out for each other. Friendship does save the day. I would love to tell you more about the bits we liked but it would give the story away and I don’t want to spoil it for you. We loved Tempest Shadow (Emily Blunt) and the mermaid ponies too. It’s a great film for My Little Pony fans – it cute and it’s magical with just a bit of darkness to add to the appeal.
