Meals made simple with Shwartz 2in1

We have home cooked meals cooked from scratch most of the time, although I admit with 3 children,we sometimes take the easy way out and resort to frozen chips and nuggets and fish fingers, not to forget pizza. Especially now with summer in full swing, the last thing one wants to do is stand by the hob cooking up a meal that takes ages.

2in1-group

I do try out a few bottle sauces because my children, like most, especially love pasta. So, when there was an opportunity to try out the new Schwartz 2in1range, I signed up.

I received 2 packets of the new range to try out –

Mediterranean Chicken Pasta + Cheesy Crumb Topping

Garlic and Thyme Roast Chicken + Crispy Potatoes

We tried out the Chicken Pasta out first. It is fairly easy to make and the ingredients are probably things that you will already have in your food cupboard/fridge so it also acts as something handy to have to produce something at short notice.

For the pasta you need:

1 sachet Schwartz 2in1 Mediterranean Chicken Pasta + Cheesy Crumb Topping Recipe Mixes
1 tbs oil
450g (1lb) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced
1 yellow pepper, chopped
150ml (5fl oz) water
400g tin chopped tomatoes

75g (3oz) Cheddar cheese, grated
200g (7oz) pasta, cooked and drained

(this is not a hazy picture, by the way, I took it to get the smoke!!)

I did not have yellow peppers so I used green and it tasted just fine, so you can swap around if you like.

I pre-heated my grill and then got on with the recipe as per the instructions.

I fried the chicken for about 6 -7 minutes and then added the pepper and cooked for a further few minutes.

I then mixed the recipe mix with water and added it with the tomatoes to the chicken and cooked on simmer for a few minutes.

I then added the pasta and heated it through.

After this, I transferred it to a baking dish and sprinkled with breadcrumbs and cheese

I placed the dish under the hot grill for 5 minutes and it was ready to serve.

We all enjoyed the dish and what I liked about it was it also catered to the adult palate as sometimes pasta sauces can be quite bland. I think the packet can be used in other combinations like adding tuna, mince etc. We especially enjoyed the crispy topping.

The Shwartz 2in1 range

The Shwartz 2in1 range makes cooking a breeze with its easy to use packets. Why 2-in-1? Well one contains the mix for the main dish and the other contains the seasoning for a complementary side dish or a topping.

There are 5 different recipes to try –

Chicken Tikka + Mint and Cucumber Raita

Garlic and Herb Crunchy Chicken Bites + Cheese and Chive Dip

Garlic and Thyme Roast Chicken + Crispy Potatoes

Mediterranean Chicken Pasta + Cheesy Crumb Topping

Southern Style Crunchy Chicken Bites + BBQ Dip

Schwartz once again makes life easier and with children, Mums always look for ways to make meals in minutes. What I liked particularly is that one doesn’t need to go and buy ingredients as most of them will be available at home. You can easily swap chicken for canned tuna or mince.
