Days Hotel Marsham Court Bournemouth – The Perfect Family Hotel

When the opportunity arose for us to review Marsham Court Days Hotel in Bournemouth during half term in October, I was within two minds because I was a bit worried about the weather. I mean it really isn’t beach weather in October.

But when I checked out Days Hotel online, I knew that we would enjoy this much needed break as we had not taken a holiday this year. Yes, it was a short break – 2 nights but a break is a break.

Days Hotel Marsham Court is beautifully located just literally around the corner from the beach. You have a great view of the sea front from some of the rooms.

We were given a room on the third floor and when we walked in we loved it immediately.

The room was a family room which sleeps upto 6 people. There was a king sized bed, 2 single beds and a sofa bed. Everything had already been made up and it looked lovely. There were packets of biscuits and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was large and there was plenty of space for the children to move around (You know how excited and hyper kids get on holiday!!)

The children were thrilled. We arrived there about 5 pm because we had gone to visit Corfe Castle which was about a 30 minute drive from Bournemouth.

Added to the stay we were also provided with breakfast and dinner. The first night we went down to dinner and the tables were set up beautifully. They had catered perfectly to the children and there were some activity packs for them at the table so they wouldn’t get bored waiting for their food to arrive as the menu was Table d’hôte. There was a lovely children’s menu for the children.

The dessert menu was lovely.

Our dinner was lovely with the food cooked perfectly. The children enjoyed their pizza and of course their dessert. The staff was at hand to help but not hovering over us which was great.

We decided to go back to our rooms after dinner and make the most of our comfortable beds.

After a great night’s sleep, we woke up refreshed and ready to explore. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of food – eggs, sausages, bacon, hash browns, grilled mushroom and tomatoes, cereal, toast with butter or marmalade, choice of yogurt and fruit. We enjoyed breakfast and then spent the day going across to Brownsea Island which was beautiful.

We came back to the hotel for dinner and as the day before, the food was delicious and were were stuffed by the time we returned to our room.

Breakfast the next morning was buffet again and the service was excellent.

A hotel is a hotel, they say, all you need is a place to sleep the night. But when you travel with children, you always need a place that is clean, comfortable, friendly and welcoming. Days Hotel was that and more.

The staff was excellent. Some of them knew that we were there to review the hotel and the service was excellent but what made an impact was there were staff who didn’t know that we were reviewing the hotel and the service that they provided was still excellent. Which obviously tells us that that is the standard of service that the hotel provides all the time.

To me, its the little things and there is something that made a great impact. When we left the hotel to explore the first morning, the beds were left as is. It is expected that in a hotel the beds get made up. The extra was that besides tidying up and making the beds, they had set out the children’s toys on each bed. It was a small gesture but to us it showed they cared.

You can also ask for extras for children as in a toddler toilet seat (which we asked for and received), board games, Wii, cot, toddler step or a potty for little ones. They really go out of their way to make things easy for parents with children.

The hotel was clean and well cared for and there is also a swimming pool which was closed for the season but it did look like it would be perfect during the summer.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Days Out Hotel Marsham Court to families. It is perfect because of it’s location, it’s rooms and it’s friendly helpful staff.

In fact, to go a step further, the hotel is planning activities for children at different times of the year and it should be a real treat. I might just find myself booking to go back as we had such a lovely time.

I have to thank all the staff at Days Hotel Marsham Court for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable.
