Bring your colouring to life with Colour Alive from Crayola

We enjoy being Crayola Bloggers. We get to indulge our creative sides and try out new things. Like, when we tried out the Crayola Marker Maker and the Doodle Magic.

This time we were very excited. We were being given a chance to bring our pictures to life – and play with them! What more can a child ask for?

Colour Alive is the new product from Crayola and it is a way of bringing your picture to life via an app. In this day and age when children are so app friendly, the idea of combining old fashioned colouring with technology to bring life to one’s creations is a novel one indeed. And a very welcome and much loved one as you will see from the enjoyment that the children (and I) got out of it.

The Colour Alive Colouring Kit consists of 6 Crayola Markers, one Special Effects marker and a colouring book with 16 pages of action – at a modest price of £6.99 You need to download an app which is FREE!!

You start by scanning your special effects marker and it registers on the app.

Then you colour your picture.

And magicallly your picture comes to life in the same colours that you have drawn in. It is even animated with sounds.

You can click a photo of your creature come alive and you can also click a selfie with it. Is that cool or what!

You can also save the creation and name it so you can play with it again later.

Forget the children, I was quite taken with Colour Alive and I did colour a few pages so that I could see for myself if what was promised was fulfilled. It was! And then I wanted to colour some more. 🙂

The children were obviously at awestruck at seeing their drawings come to life and being able to place them around the room or pose with them and take a selfie.

This product is amazing. It encourages creativity in a child and blends in technology, to promote physical and cognitive development in such a clever way.

There are different kits – Enchanted garden, Mythical Creatures, Barbie and Skylanders. And you can also download further pages and print them out.

I know that Crayola will be bringing out many more kits and expanding the range and we can’t wait to see what we can bring to life.

With the Easter break on, this is an ideal way to keep children occupied and entertained. If you take a selfie please do upload a picture on Twitter with the hashtag #Colouryourselfie . Tag me at @jacintaz3 – I would love to see your creation.

Crayola will be launching the #colouryourselfie competition at the Gadget Show Live where children will get to take a picture of themselves and their creation at the show. The best one from the whole campaign will get an amazing prize.

It’s no surprise to me that Crayola has brought us a product that will change the world of colouring forever as their products are always innovative and of a very high quality. In fact, it has been discovered that colouring can actually help adults de-stress.

Right then, off to colour another picture!
