When I signed up to the Barny Little Adventures with BritMums, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself in for. The moment the children knew about the word ‘adventure’ they wanted just that – an adventure. A walk in the park would not do for them – they wanted the whole hog.
After much thinking, we decided that it would be nice to visit Bodiam Castle – it should be adventurous enough! It was a lovely day and the drive to Bodiam took about an hour. Luckily we had some Barny treats to keep them busy on the way!
The castle is just gorgeous and under the National Trust. The 14th century castle has a moat and stunning scenery. Even though it is in ruins, there is enough adventure to keep the little ones happy.
We could walk up stairs of the castle and we even had to help one of the forest men to solve the mystery of disappearing trees!!
The stairs are narrow and winding and we were huffing and puffing by the time we reached the top – but it was all worth it. The view was breathtaking and what could be better than being at the top of a battlement? Adventurous enough?
Apparently not so –
Because within the week, we received the good news that we had been the first 50 to apply for the challenge and we were being sent a surprise – YAY- we love surprises here.
Well, obviously this called for a no holds barred bear hunt…er…bug hunt!
The following week we had to do the even more adventurous thing of going bug hunting. Not the park near out home but further…this time it was Crane Park.
Armed with our bug barn, magnifying glass and net, we set off on yet another adventure!
We walked through the park exploring the flora and fauna, adopted some ladybugs and slipped on the rocks into the water. This was adventure at its height.
We had a great time. Unfortunately Barny did not come along this time because – well, he didn’t last long enough. When Barny comes into the house, he doesn’t stay there for long. He is quickly eaten up. Poor Barny!
Why do we like him so much? He is just plain yummy and mummy loves to eat him too!
Barny is a little bear shaped sponge snack with a super surprise inside. Its either chocolate or milk chocolate and the children love to eat them. It has become the favourite treat for packed lunch and I have to make sure that I have constant stock of it. It also great for an anytime snack and is very popular when the children return from school – every hungry.
Barny comes in packs of five, individually wrapped which ensure that he does not get crushed in a packed lunch bag. They contain no artificial colours, preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians. The best part of it all – they are absolutely delicious.
We had a wonderful time going on our adventures and I am pleased to say they have not stopped – we have been going exploring every week! I am also really happy to mention that I have been using my Britax Stroller which never lets me down.
This post is an entry for BritMums ‘Little Adventures Challenge’ in partnership with Barny, the bear-shaped snack providing a little discovery in every bite. Find out more about Barny here.
