Tomorrow begins National Children’s Book week and it is a great week to encourage children to read more. I love books and so do the children.
I was sent this new first edition book of Anagranimals and the Wishing Tree by Leith Moghli to review and we found it delightful. The story of how 6 animal friends living in Pogo Bogo stumble across a Wishing tree and are able to get the best bits of their favourite animals, is one that went down very well with all the children (they are aged 8, 4 and 2)
The story ends with the animals going on an adventure and I suppose that will be the next book that the children are just waiting to read.
The book is very well written and has lovely illustrations.
Jadyn, 8, could easily read the story by herself and I am glad that there were some challenging words for her too where she wanted to know how they had been used.
Ethan, 4, loved the story read to him and found the names of the animals funny after they had changed bodies.
Aeryn, 2, loved the illustrations and we talked about the different animals.
I loved the book – it was fun and there was so much to discuss – identifying the animals once they had transformed, the forest, what do you think happens next…
I also like the Title of the book – playing on the word Anagram. 🙂
We also had a lot of fun thinking of other combination of animals and the children were in splits of laughter imagining them.
I am not going to spoil the book for you and tell you the entire story. Instead, as one of my lucky readers, I am giving you the chance to win a copy of your own.
